Goldsmiths, stonecutters and setters of precious stones in Lisbon of the XVIII Century - their contribuition in art and in mentality evolution

Abstract

On the earliests decades of the XVIII century, some goldsmiths, lapidaries and setter of precious stones, pressured to leave France by the restrictions of religion liberty, was attracted by the plenty of gold and precious stones arrived from Brasil to King ́s Jonh V kingdom. They came to work in Lisbon, bringing inside their souls the light of the new ideas wish grew in Europe. Some Mouton/Vandrevelde/Thirion and Mallet, who got roots in the city, between them developded family ties, and left in noble metal an artistic proof of hope in mentality reforms.
